We only do one event at a time. We are committed to giving each event our complete attention and care.
We are one of the few catering companies whose company owners actually work “hands on” at your event.
We never use temporary staff and we never will. Most of our employees have been with us for over 15 years. By only doing one event at a time it allows us to have our well trained, happy and competent staff at every event.
Corkage and cake cutting are provided at no extra cost.
We use high quality white ceramic bowls, wicker baskets and silver platters. No plastic or industrial bowls, pitchers or chipped and worn serving ware will be used at your event.
We keep our prices affordable by cooking from scratch, never using pre-packaged foods.
Matt Wyss, our executive chef, will be at your event preparing your carefully customized menu on site. We do not cook ahead or send someone else to create his recipes.
We do not reheat or transport food in “hot boxes” from an offsite location which is what many catering companies do. This method is dreadful for food quality and risky.
Marcie Wyss a company co-owner and an event coordinator with over 25 years experience will work with you throughout the planning process and is there on the day of your event to bring it all together.
We own all our tableware, glassware and linens thus we do not have to pay high rental fees. We pass these savings on to you.
We proudly serve local organic produce, meats and traditional ingredients whenever possible.
Your guests will be able to go to the buffet for more than one visit. Your guests will be surprised the food is like a fine restaurant meal and will often have seconds or even thirds.
At SYR we stress proper planning and preparation for each event we do. We always plan for bad traffic and rarely encounter it as a problem because the bulk of our business is close to our office and kitchen.
You can have the leftovers or we will donate them to Oakland Potluck.
We will you give you a couple of different floor plan ideas for your event. We love looking at an empty room and coming up with different ways to make it work best for a reception.
We use Peet’s coffee.
In case of illness Matt and Marcie have fully trained assistants who can take over.
We do not charge a mandatory gratuity. They are paid a high hourly wage. If you wish to tip them it is just icing on the cake. Most of our staff have been with us for over 10 years.
